Doctor Dan Wright is not only one of the kindest and nicest human beings you could ever meet he’s one of the most professional. At every stage of my procedure I felt reassured and in very safe hands. I would not normally post a review of anything that isn’t a restaurant or a barber but I felt compelled to here because my experience was so wonderful. Fantastic stuff. Brilliant.

Your Journey With 101
What is dimpleplasty and how does it work?

Dimpleplasty is a minor surgical procedure that creates natural-looking dimples in the cheeks. At 101 Harley Street, it is performed under local anaesthetic and takes around 30 to 45 minutes. A tiny incision is made inside the mouth, meaning there are no external cuts and no visible scarring on the face. The underlying cheek muscle is adjusted to create a small indentation that produces a dimple when smiling. Initial dimples are visible immediately following the procedure, with the final natural settling of results at 4 to 6 weeks.

Is dimpleplasty permanent?

Dimpleplasty produces long-lasting results. In the initial weeks following the procedure, the dimple may be visible even at rest as the area heals. Over time, as healing progresses, the dimple typically becomes most apparent when smiling, closely mimicking the appearance of a natural dimple. Your surgeon at 101 Harley Street will explain what to expect at each stage of healing at your consultation.

Is dimpleplasty painful?

Dimpleplasty is performed under local anaesthetic, so you will not feel pain during the procedure. Some mild tenderness, swelling, and discomfort inside the cheek in the first few days following surgery is normal and settles quickly. Most patients find any discomfort is minor and well managed without prescription pain medication. Recovery is straightforward, with most patients returning to normal activities within a few days and taking only 1 to 2 days off work.

Will dimpleplasty leave a scar?

No. All incisions used in dimpleplasty are made inside the mouth, so there are no external cuts and no visible scarring on the surface of the face. This makes it a particularly discreet procedure, with no outward signs of having had a surgical treatment.

Can dimpleplasty be performed on one cheek only?

Yes. While many patients choose to have dimples created symmetrically on both cheeks, dimpleplasty can be performed on a single cheek if preferred. Placement, depth, and symmetry are discussed in detail at your consultation, where your surgeon at 101 Harley Street will assess your facial anatomy and advise on the position most suited to your natural expression and facial proportions.

Will the dimples look natural?

Yes. After the initial healing period, the dimples appear naturally when smiling and blend smoothly with your facial expression.

Will there be visible scars?

No, all incisions are made inside the mouth, leaving no external marks.

Do the dimples appear at rest?

Immediately after surgery they may appear even when not smiling, but they gradually settle into a more natural movement over several weeks.

Is the procedure painful?

Most patients experience only mild discomfort, easily managed with simple pain relief.

Can dimpleplasty be reversed?

In some cases, dimpleplasty can be adjusted or reversed, depending on how the tissues have healed.

Who performs treatments at 101 Harley Street?

All procedures at 101 Harley Street are carried out by highly qualified consultants and specialists who are leaders in their respective fields. Each practitioner has extensive experience within both the NHS and private practice and is registered with the General Medical Council (GMC). You can explore our consultants here.

Can I choose which consultant I see?

Absolutely. During your enquiry process, our patient team will recommend the most suitable consultant for your treatment, but you are always welcome to request a specific doctor or surgeon if you prefer.

Will I see the same consultant throughout my treatment?

Yes. You will meet your consultant during your initial consultation, and they will oversee your treatment plan and aftercare to ensure consistency, safety, and the highest standard of results.
