What is a Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgery procedure that targets sagging eyelids and under-eye bags. As we age, over time the skin around the eyes can lose elasticity, leading to drooping, puffiness, or a heavy, tired appearance. In some some cases this can even lead to impaired vision. By removing or repositioning excess fat and tightening the skin and muscles, blepharoplasty restores smoother contours and a refreshed look.

There are two main types of Bleph at our Harley Street clinic:

  • Upper Blepharoplasty: Focuses on lifting sagging upper eyelids to improve eye shape and definition.

  • Lower Blepharoplasty: Reduces puffiness and under-eye bags, tightening the skin for a smoother, rested appearance.

Many patients choose to combine both procedures for full rejuvenation of the eye area.

Doctor Dan Wright is not only one of the kindest and nicest human beings you could ever meet he’s one of the most professional. At every stage of my procedure I felt reassured and in very safe hands. I would not normally post a review of anything that isn’t a restaurant or a barber but I felt compelled to here because my experience was so wonderful. Fantastic stuff. Brilliant.

How Does Blepharoplasty Work?

Blepharoplasty is usually performed under local anaesthetic with sedation or general anaesthetic, depending on your treatment plan. During the procedure, your surgeon makes discreet incisions along the natural eyelid creases to minimise visible scarring. Through these incisions, excess skin, fat, or muscle is carefully removed or repositioned to achieve a natural, refreshed result.

Typical treatment duration is 60 – 120 minutes, and most patients can return home the same day. Swelling and mild bruising are common for the first week, with results becoming progressively clearer over the following months.
